IDFG: Moose poached south of Twin Falls

The moose, which was shot outside the hunting season, was found decapitated near a campground along the South Fork Shoshone Creek Road.

TWIN FALLS, Idaho — The Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) found a poached moose south of Twin Falls and is asking for the public's help with any information. 

On Wednesday, Aug. 21, IDFG stated they received a Citizens Against Poaching (CAP) report of a dead moose in the South Hill area. Officers arrived and found the moose decapitated near a vacant campground along the South Fork Shoshone Creek Road.

IDFG stated the moose was killed outside of the hunting season, which starts Aug. 30, and it is believed to be killed around the weekend of Aug. 10.

According to Idaho State Code, anyone found guilty of poaching a moose is subject to a $10,000 fine.
