Idaho Humane Society waives redemption fees through July 7

The humane society is waiving redemption fees through Sunday for any animal that arrives between July 2 and July 7.

BOISE, Idaho — The Idaho Humane Society is waiving redemption fees through Sunday, July 7, to help owners connect with their lost pets.

The Fourth of July can be a stressful time for pets, causing an increase in runaways in the week of the holiday. The Idaho Humane Society is open on Friday, July 5, to help people and pets reconnect, or be a safe place for people to drop off strays they may have found.

Fees will be waived through Sunday for any animals received between July 2 and July 7.

The Idaho Humane Society reminds pet owners that accidents can happen, even with the best planning. They ask that pet identification tags have the most up-to-date information and are attached to a well fitted collar. They also remind owners to update pet's microchip information if you've moved or changed phone numbers.

Pets do best locked in a safe area in the house when fireworks begin. The humane society recommends closing all windows, pulling down the blinds, turning on the radio or television and give your pet a special treat. These efforts can help keep them distracted from the fireworks outside.
