BOISE, Idaho — An Idaho man will be sentenced for beating a fellow inmate to death in the Idaho Maximum Security Institution.
According to the Ada County Prosecutor's Office, a jury convicted 28-year-old Juan Santos-Quintero Tuesday for the first-degree murder of another inmate.
A five-day trial happened in Ada County, where the jury found Santos-Quintero guilty in the death of 26-year-old Junior Garcia.
Santos-Quintero beat Garcia in June of 2023 and Garcia later died from his injuries. Santos-Quintero is scheduled to be sentenced on October 7.
“Thank you for the jury’s time and attention during this trial,” said Ada County Prosecutor Jan Bennetts. “Thank you also to my trial team and the investigative team for their hard work on this case.”
