BOISE, Idaho — Idaho State Police (ISP) confirm that a car crash was the cause of a power outage in Marsing that lasted roughly 16 hours from Jan. 2 to Jan. 3.
According to ISP, 25-year-old Angela Rihari was arrested for allegedly stealing a car from a Caldwell dealership and crashing the vehicle into a power pole near Marsing.
Caldwell police said they received a call around 6:30 p.m. about a car theft at a dealership on Cleveland Boulevard. While searching the area, police received another call about a reckless driver who matched the description on Homedale and Farmway Road. Police found Rihari in the car and said she refused to pull over.
After a short chase, Caldwell officers stopped pursuing the car when it turned towards Marsing.
Deputies from Canyon and Owyhee counties, as well as ISP troopers and Parma police, continued the chase, which ended when the car crashed into a power pole on Karcher Road near Farmway Road, causing the power outage. The power was out from 6:56 p.m. and completely restored at 1:32 a.m. as Idaho Power officials replaced the power pole.
Rihari was taken to the hospital and later released to the Ada County Jail, ISP said.
She is facing multiple felonies, including grand theft and eluding a police officer.
