BOISE, Idaho — To remind the public to slow down for flashing lights while driving on Idaho roads, Idaho State Police (ISP) shared a video from January that shows an officer nearly being hit by a semi-truck.
In a social media post made on Monday, March 4, ISP said that Trooper Rowley was working near Meridian when the incident happened. The video shows the officer sprinting from his squad car into the snow-covered median. Moments later, a truck and trailer barreled into the snow, sliding to a halt.
ISP said the semi-truck driver crashed because he wasn't paying attention and didn't see the road flares, lights and arrows.
"Move over for emergency vehicles—it's the law! When you spot flashing lights, slow down and change lanes safely," ISP said. "Your attention could mean the difference between life and death."
