IDAHO, USA — The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) has picked and announced the 12 winners of the first "Name A Snowplow Contest." The department said most names were submitted by eighth graders, and although these are kids, the names will crack most adults up.
"On behalf of safety for our over 400 plow drivers in Idaho, thank you to all the students and teachers for getting involved! It really helps us spread the word about winter driving safety," said ITD Chief Operations Officer and Chief Deputy Director Dan McElhinney. "Please look for those named plows and give them a wave and plenty of space to work if you see them out on highways helping our communities."
ITD stated due to a pressing need for more plows, the department had some employees' children also come up with some names. The winners were picked by an anonymous ITD vote. Once the plows are named, the department will also visit schools and teach students about the plows.
