BOISE, Idaho — The Idaho Transportation Department closed U.S. Highway 20 from Dixie to Fairfield due to winter weather conditions Tuesday afternoon.
According to ITD's website, all lanes of traffic on Highway 20 were closed from mile markers 116 to 152 at 2:37 p.m. Tuesday due to whiteout conditions and high winds. The average wind speed is 22.4 mph, with gusts surpassing 28 mph.
The closure is caused by a winter storm that's making its way across eastern Oregon and southern Idaho, bringing blizzard-like conditions.
The blizzard warning is in place until noon Wednesday. A social media post from the Idaho Transportation Department of the area is included below:
