Kaylee Goncalves’ family starts GoFundMe to attend Ada County trial

The Goncalves family started a GoFundMe to help with travel expenses so they can attend Bryan Kohberger's trial after it was moved to Ada County.

MOSCOW, Idaho — The family of Kaylee Goncalves started a GoFundMe to raise funds for them to attend the trial of Bryan Kohberger.

On September 12, the Idaho Supreme Court ruled that Kohberger's trial, who is accused of fatally stabbing four University of Idaho students, will be held in Boise, roughly 300 miles (483 kilometers) from where the crimes occurred.

Kohberger faces four counts of murder in the deaths of Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, Madison Mogen and Kaylee Goncalves, and prosecutors have said they intend to seek the death penalty if he is convicted.

The trial is scheduled to start in June 2025 and is expected to last about 3 months.

According to the GoFundMe, "Kaylee‘s family has not missed one hearing or any court appointment since this has started and they would like to continue to attend all of them, even though it is now in Boise."

The GoFundMe donations will go towards housing, feeding, loss of work, and transportation for the Goncalves'. They have set a goal of $50,000 to pay for those expenses. As of Monday, they have raised over $11,000.
