BOISE -- Remembering Steve Appleton, who lost his life in a plane crash at the age of 51.

Steve Appleton lived all of his adult life in Boise. He was most well-known as CEO and Chairman of Micron Technology, but also known for his adventurous spirit and philanthropy.

Our KTVB cameras caught him in a business suit, a racing suit, a pilot suit, and always showing his vigorous and competitive attitude.

Appleton leaves behing his wife Dalynn, a graduate of Capital High School and their two young children, Annabella and Jake.

He also has two older daughters, Elishia and Marissa, both in college.

Appleton was born in 1960 in east Los Angeles.

He was a four year letterman on the Boise State tennis team and in 1983, one year after graduating from college, he got a job at a new memory chip making company in Boise. He started on the factory floor which led to a variety of jobs and promotions. In 1994, 34-year-old Steve Appleton was named the company's chairman and CEO. The youngest chief of any Fortune 500 company.
