Kuna man arrested on explosives charges

BOISE, Idaho — A Kuna man has been arrested on a series of charges for having "explosive materials," said Ada County Sheriff's Office (ACSO). 

On July 24, Kuna Police were dispatched to a house near E. 4th Street and Orchard Avenue in Kuna for a report of suspicious activity. They began investigating, and found possible explosive devices and man suspicious chemicals were located in the garage of the home, ACSO said. 

Boise Police Bomb Squad responded to evaluate the devices and chemicals, and it was confirmed that they were explosives. 

ACSO reports that neighbors in the immediate area were encouraged to evacuate. 

Early information showed that there were no mass destruction public safety threat. The resident of the home, Tyson Jardine, 37, had not been seen by friends or family in roughly two weeks, and officials believe to Jardine to be in the Pine/Featherville area in Elmore County. 

The Ada County Sheriff's Office ACTION team and Ada Metro SWAT, with assistance from Elmore County Sheriff's Office, located Jardine at a campground near Pine, the press release said. 

Jardine backed into a Meridian Police Department armored vehicle and then hit the Ada Metro Bearcat armored vehicle, damaging both. Jardine was taken into Elmore County Jail, and had a firearm on his person at the time of arrest, ACSO said. 

Jardine will be extradited to the Ada County Jail pending his arraignment.
