BOISE, Idaho — A late-night fire gutted a three-story Victorian-style house in Boise. No one was injured but two dogs died in the house fire. According to the Boise Fire Department (BFD), crews were called to the fire on the 9200 block of W Ustick Rd. at 10:15 p.m. on Friday, Mar. 23. BFD was able to stop the fire from spreading in about 20 minutes by using six fire trucks and a ladder truck.
The house, known as "The Vicky," has been being restored and even has its own Facebook page. The owner took to social media the morning after the fire and said he was not in the house when the fire started. He also said only one of his three poodle dogs made it out.
"Our hearts go out to the family. We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of their pets and historical home,' BFD wrote on social media.
BFD stated at the height of the fire, crews had to use two separate water sources and had 3,000 gallons of water a minute spraying on the fire. The department said crews stayed overnight to make sure the fire didn't re-ignite.
The department is investigating the cause of the fire.
The owner has created a GoFundMe to help restore the building.
