BOISE, Idaho — A large outage caused much of Ada County to lose power on Monday affecting nearly 15,000 customers in Meridian, Boise, and Eagle.

As of 1:05 p.m., power has been restored to most customers, said Idaho Power. The Idaho Power outage map has been cleared.

Idaho Power began investigating the incident around 11:30 a.m. It is unclear what exactly caused the outage.

Several businesses were without power, including several schools in the area. The West Ada School District sent an email to parents regarding the outage.

"We want to inform you of a power outage affecting several schools within our district due to an accident in the area, which resulted in a downed power pole. Currently, Discovery Elementary School, Paramount Elementary School, Prospect Elementary School, Central Academy High School, Heritage Middle School, and Pathways Middle School are experiencing power disruptions," the district said. "We are actively working with local agencies to restore full power as quickly as possible. Please be assured that all essential systems are running smoothly, and classroom instruction is continuing as normal at the affected schools. Our team is closely monitoring the situation to ensure a safe and productive environment for all students and staff."

Idaho Power suggested signing up for text alerts through their outage map, to get up-to-date information about outages. Visit their Outage Map located here.
