Lava fire evacuations

The Gem County Emergency Management Office has issued several "Go Now" evacuations for the area.

OLA, Idaho — The Gem County Fire District #2 and the Gem County Emergency Management Office has issued "Go Now" evacuations for residents near the Lava Fire, close to Ola.

People on Third Fork Rd, North of Nesbitt Lane, all residents on Nesbitt Lane, Second Fork Road north of Nesbitt Lane, the Sage Hen Reservoir area and Dodson Pass to Indian Valley should evacuate now. 

The Gem County Fire District #2 also issued warnings for more evacuations.

Significant fire growth reported this morning due to erratic winds. The fire has expanded to the north and west.

Evacuations Expanded:

Level 3 (Go): Dodson Pass to Indian Valley—Immediate evacuation required.

Level 2 (Set): New Meadows Rd—Prepare to leave if conditions worsen.

Road Closure: Intersection at Second Fork and Third Fork is now closed.

Evacuation Levels:

Level 1: Be aware and prepare.

Level 2: Get ready to leave. 

Level 3: Immediate evacuation needed.

Gem County Fire District #2 units have been requested for structure protection.

There are also road closures: Sweet Ola Highway is closed at the split to Second and Third Fork Roads and Third Fork Road at Nesbitt Lane and Second Fork Road at Nesbitt Lane are closed for firefighter access.
