MERIDIAN -The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints held a groundbreaking for a new temple in Meridian today.
The site is on North Linder Road just north of Chinden Boulevard.
It will be the church's fifth temple in Idaho.
"And upon it's completion it will be dedicated as a sacred place of learning an worship different from all other places, peaceful, holy and sacred," said Elder J. Craig Rowe during the ceremony.
Construction of the new temple is expected to take about two years to complete.
The church currently has 143 temples wordwide.
