BOISE, Idaho — Local officials, business leaders and Mr. Monopoly himself rolled out the new MONOPOLY: Boise Edition on Oct. 26. The game is the only licensed version in the state, thanks in part to Top Trumps USA, the American division of Winning Moves International, and licensed under Hasbro, a leading toy and game company.
“We appreciate all those who suggested landmarks, organizations, and businesses that make Boise unique and truly special. And we are pleased so many of them raced in to win the opportunity for a place on the board," a Top Trumps representative said.
Some of the featured businesses on the board include Micron, Idaho Pizza Company and High Desert Harley Davidson. Notable geography of Boise is also featured on the board with places like Table Rock and Zoo Boise.
The Boise edition of MONOPOLY replaces the well known squares with local business, historic landmarks and notable nonprofits in the area. Creators even customized the Community Chest and Chance playing cards, to further ensure the board is a living tribute to Boise.
The original MONOPOLY hit the shelves in 1935. After 88 years, the gameplay has remained unchanged, making MONOPOLY a timeless classic.
According to a press release, MONOPOLY is the world’s favorite family game brand and is enjoyed by more than one billion players in 114 countries.
