EAGLE, Idaho — A Boise man was arrested off Eagle Road on Sunday, Nov. 19 after threatening two teens at a gym, smashing a window and trying to bite a deputy, according to Ada County Sheriff's Office (ACSO).
21-year-old Jacob A. Roberts was charged with malicious injury to property and another felony count of assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, as he tried to bite an Eagle police officer on the bicep, ACSO stated..
It happened near Eagle Road/Idaho 44 intersection in downtown Eagle. Eagle Police were called to a gym just after 12:30 p.m., about a man armed with a knife that broke a window at the gym and was covered in blood.
Police said they talked to a woman who told them a man, later identified as Roberts, was "acting strangely and bothering two teens who were working out." The witness stood between the teens and Roberts as she was concerned for the teens' safety. The witness, and the two teens, then closed the door to the exercise mat room and blocked the door with kettlebells.
Witnesses told police when Roberts could not gain access to the mat room, he became more agitated. A third witness then tried to call 911. Police said that is when Roberts tried to leave the gym but ran into the front door, falling backwards when the door didn't move.
According to police, Roberts then removed a large knife from his waistband, used it to break a large glass window next to the door and then proceeded to walk through the broken glass.
Police found him roughly 30 minutes later, behind a restaurant in the 100 block of E. State Street.
Officers said they found a large knife under Robert's sweatshirt during his arrest, and paramedics treated his injuries at the scene. Police also said that when Roberts was brought to jail, he got out of the patrol car, tried to run away and tried to bite an deputy on the arm.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 30.
