'Black Fire' southeast of Boise burns more than 500 acres

The Bureau of Land Management said the fire spotted Wednesday afternoon would be controlled Thursday, and that forward progression had stopped.

BOISE, Idaho — A fire burning about 10 miles southeast of Boise Wednesday night is contained, and is expected to be controlled Thursday, according to the Boise District Bureau of Land Management.

The fire burned more than 500 acres in grass and brush near Blacks Creek Road. At 9:22 p.m., the BLM said in a Twitter post that forward progression had stopped, and crews were staying at the scene overnight to build and reinforce containment lines and mop up hot spots.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

BLM crews also responded to two other fires Wednesday and warned of a potentially serious upcoming fire season.

"Fire managers ask the public to do their part in preventing unwanted human caused fires. Please visit www.IdahoFireInfo.com for more information on fire restrictions, the Idaho BLM Fire Prevention Order and fire prevention tips," the BLM stated.
