STAR, Idaho — A family in Star is safe but their home is a total loss after a fire today. According to Middleton Star Fire District Deputy Chief Victor Islas, the department received the call around 12:30 p.m., on Saturday, Mar. 2 from the homeowner. Islas said crews were able to get the family and pets out safely and no one was injured.
The house was located south of Purple Sage Rd. Islas told KTVB that large gusts of wind and lack of hydrants in the area were a challenge for firefighters. However, they were able to get the fire out after a few hours.
The Middleton Star Fire District was aided by other fire departments in Caldwell, Meridian, Nampa, Gem County and Sand Hollow.
