BOISE, Idaho — People double-downed-- enduring the winter cold and stayed in line, some even waiting overnight, in anticipation of Tuesday's grand opening of the In-N-Out in Meridian, Idaho.
As people's hunger grew for a "Double-Double" combined with the restaurant's famous "Animal-Style" fries, so did the line of cars snaking its way through the Village's parking lot. A traffic plan stacked drivers into four large dirt lots to help ease the stress of traffic.
However, the line wasn't exclusive to hungry drivers. Many residents formed a line that extended out of the building, spilling into the adjacent sidewalk.
For those willing to spend the estimated three-hour wait time, their prize was the sweet taste of victory in the form of an "Animal Style Double-Double."
"We had customers lined up, our first drive-thru customer arrived about 30 hours before opening, and we had long lines this morning well before we opened," In-N-Out COO Denny Warnick said. "The welcome that we have felt from the community so far has been amazing."
As KTVB previously reported, the Gem State's first In-N-Out is the 400th location. The establishment is located at 3520 E. Fairview Ave. In addition to indoor and outdoor seating, the restaurant offers one drive-thru lane.
Operating hours are from 10:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
