Just a few days until Idaho drops the potato, rings in 2024

In just a few days, Idahoans will be counting down to the start of a new year at the Idaho Potato Drop.

BOISE, Idaho — 'Twas the week before the Potato Drop, when all through the park,
Team Tater was stirring, and preparing for the Gem State trademark.

A stupendous spud will be hung with great care,
to ring in 2024 - a new year and a breath of fresh air.

Idahoans will gather together and cheer will spread,
while visions of french fries dance overhead.

With music, ski jumps and fireworks galore,
as Idaho counts down - who could want more?

The celebration of spud - an event, so divine,
who better to explain than Mr. Potato Drop himself - Dylan Cline?

"The Idaho Potato Drop, it's Idaho's signature holiday event that has been happening for 11 years," Cline said. "We celebrate New Year's Eve and ring in the New Year together with the dropping of a giant Idaho potato, a great firework show, lots of live entertainment, VIP experiences, and a ski and snowboard exhibition right on the Capitol grounds at Cecil D Andrus Park."

Live bands, VIP rooms, and a new fireworks show,
there's lots to do - and a festival glow.

The centerpiece of it all is a massive spud,
one thing all Idahoans can love.

"The Glowtato, it's pretty large - 18 feet wide, 10 feet tall," Cline said. "Upwards of 3,000 pounds depending on what we've got stuffed inside. We've got lasers, fog machines, 10,000 LED lights."

One mustn't forget - this time time next week,
spud supporters can ring in the New Year, and seek;

A tremendous tater, a truly unforgettable sight.
Happy Potato Drop to all, and to all a good night.
