Get stoked! Bogus Basin makes improvements for 81st winter season

Whether you're shredding the gnar or enjoying an après-ski at the lodge - the cool winter upgrades are so hot, you might reconsider that extra layer you brought.

BOISE, Idaho — As Bogus Basin crews prepare for a rad 2023/2024 winter season, an avalanche of new upgrades and additions are sure to provide guests with a send'sational experience.

From advanced snow-making machines to a total terrain expansion, here are some of the improvements you'll find at Bogus this year for the ultimate powder party.

Slope Improvements

  • Brush-cutting
    • Slope improvements via brush-cutting. The process of brush-cutting involves the removal of overgrown vegetation and underbrush. Brush-cutting prevents the growth of obstacles that have the potential to impede on mountain guests.
  • Improved lighting for night-skiing
    • Lights were installed on slopes 'Alpine' and 'Showcase' in an effort to improve visibility - totaling 200 illuminated acres, according to a news release from Bogus Basin.

Fleet and Technology Upgrades

  • Grooming equipment
    • PistenBully 600 installation - According to the Bogus Basin statement, the machine is the most powerful winch cat on the market. The machine is designed to groom steep slopes. The snowcat is equipped with technology called "SNOWsat" - a measuring device, which is meant to provide snow depth.
  • Snow machines
    • Bogus Basin installed four automated snowmaking towers on the Morning Star trail - bringing the total number of machines to 28.
  • Backup generator
    • Bogus Basin acquired a large auxiliary generator that will power the snowmaking pumps. It will also facilitate operational systems in the event of a power outage during a wildfire or severe weather event.

Infrastructure and Bogus Facilities

  • Rental shop remodel
    • A remodel of the shop provides an "updated feel" and an enhanced guest experience. The renovation added five new tech stations, four boot dryers, and four ski and snowboard racks capable of holding 850+ pairs of skis and 300+ brand snowboards.
  • Lodge improvements
    • Bogus Basin also made updates to the restrooms on the first floor of the Pioneer Lodge. Crews installed a new HVAC system to improve ventilation and heating. The men's room on the first floor of Simplot Lodge was also updated.

Transportation

  • Public bus route expansion
    • Weekend/holiday public bus services added an additional stop in Nampa. A roundtrip or one-way bus ticket will cost $10 (including tax).

Get stoked, park rats and powder hounds - there's some serious 'shred' planned for the season ahead.

Bogus Basin is scheduled to open on Nov. 23, 2023 (ironically, a 'Golden Birthday').
