BOISE, Idaho — The unemployment rate in Idaho saw a slight increase from October to November of 2023, according to the Idaho Department of Labor.
In October, unemployment in Idaho was at 3.2%. In November, it rose to 3.3%.
According to the Idaho Department of Labor, total employment in the state increased by 2,017 people (0.2%) and unemployment increased by 754 people (2.4%).
The participation rate, which is the number of people 16 years or older who are employed or looking for work, increased from 62.4% in October to 62.5% in November.
Industries that saw the most growth in October to November were information jobs, federal government, financial activities, healthcare and social services and private educational services. On the other side, the industries that saw decreases in November were arts, entertainment and recreation, other services, retail, wholesale, and nondurable goods manufacturing.
Looking year-over-year, Idaho sat at 3.3% in November 2023 which is up from 2.8% in 2022. Nationally however, the unemployment rate decreased between October and November, putting it at 3.7%.
