GOODING COUNTY, Idaho — According to Idaho State Police (ISP), two minors were killed in a two-vehicle crash Friday, Oct. 27. Four other individuals involved were transported to local area hospitals.
The crash happened at around 5 p.m. at the intersection of 2000 E. Gooding County and US-26. Police said a minor was traveling east on US-26 driving a 2002 Honda Odyssey and turning north on 2000 E when it failed to yield at a stop sign.
The vehicle then crossed US26, where it was hit by a 50-year-old man from Wendell driving a 2000 Ford Excursion. The Odyssey then went off the north shoulder and hit an unoccupied Backhoe.
In the Odyssey, were four minors - two of them were pronounced dead at the scene. Police said they were both wearing seatbelts. The other two minors in the vehicle were transported to the hospital.
Additionally, the driver of the Ford and his juvenile passenger were taken to the hospital following the crash. Ther is no word on the conditions of the four people hospitalized.
On Monday, Gooding School District issued a statement expressing their condolences to those impacted by the fatal crash. The district stated area school will be offering counseling support and services to "anyone who needs it" starting Monday morning.
Idaho state Police is investigating the crash.
The road was blocked for about four hours as crews cleared the scene.
