BOISE, Idaho — Make-A-Wish Idaho granted wish number 2,024 on March 9, 2024, by fulfilling 9-year-old Ronan's wish to go to Disneyland.
The Idaho chapter of Make-A-Wish announced the exciting coincidence in a statement Wednesday, noting that the organization was able to grant its 2,024th wish since its creation in 1986, in the year 2024. And KTVB noticed yet another serendipitous numerical coincidence: 1+9+8+6 = 24!
Ronan, of Nampa, was born with kidney failure and has undergone dialysis treatments since he was just a few days old. Ronan has since received a kidney transplant, a life-altering procedure which Make-A-Wish said was successful and has improved his health.
Ronan loves roller coaster rides, the Avengers and Star Wars, and therefore wished to go to Disneyland.
"He enjoyed the whole trip, but he mostly just loved going on all the roller coasters and rides," said wish dad, Mitch. "Going to Disneyland did make an impact on him and you could just see the pure happiness he had when he was on a roller coaster and the happiness he had just being there."
Make-A-Wish Idaho is thrilled to have granted Ronan the organization's 2024th wish in the year 2024 and can't wait to grant critically ill children with 2,024 more!
"This is the first time, and likely the only time, the year and the total amount of Idaho wishes granted will be the same number," Make-A-Wish said of the milestone.
According to a 2022 wish impact study conducted by the Make-A-Wish program, participants said that the opportunities provided through the program greatly contribute to the physical, mental and emotional health of the individual's granted wishes.
