BOISE, Idaho — According to the Caldwell Police Department, officers responded to an incident on April 28 near Laster Lane and Cleveland Boulevard. The suspect in that incident was later identified as 50-year-old Marcus Jackson.
According to the 19-year-old victim, Jackson sexually assaulted her and tried to strangle her.
Police contacted Jackson at his home, where he was taken into custody without issue. Jackson was taken to the Canyon County Jail and has been charged with rape, aggravated battery, and a felon in possession of a firearm, Caldwell Police said.
This is an active investigation and additional charges may be brought forth at a later date.
"Mr. Jackson has no place in our community. His actions underscore the definition of pure evil and we will not allow him to continue preying on innocent people any longer. My heart hurts for the survivor of this horrific attack and I commend her for being brave," Caldwell Chief of Police Rex Ingram said in a news release.
