Update: ISP investigating fatal crash in Bingham County involving deputy

Two women, his passenger and the deputy, were taken to the hospital.

BINGHAM COUNTY, Idaho — Idaho State Police (ISP) said they investigating a crash where a man died in Bingham County, and they said it also involved a Bingham County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) deputy. They stated a "crash involving one of their deputies with another vehicle" was on the 600 block of N 1100 E. 

According to ISP, the crash happened on Thursday. Feb 1. when a 38-year-old BCSO deputy, who they believed was on patrol, was traveling west on 600 North when she drifted into the median and entered oncoming traffic. She crashed into a 2002 Dodge Ram 2500, and all occupants were trapped inside their vehicles.

Police said the 80-year-old driver of the Ram died at the scene and the 76-year-old woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. 

ISP said the deputy, who was driving a Ford SUV, suffered serious injuries, no word on her condition.
