MERIDIAN, Idaho — A man has died, and a woman is in the hospital with serious injuries after a house fire in Meridian on July 19 around 7 p.m. According to the Meridian Fire Department (MFD), they responded to a house fire close to the intersection of Black Cat Road and W. Vaquero Lane, when they arrived, they found flames coming from the house.
The department said they worked to free people that were stuck inside but the man died at the scene. Twelve units responded and it took about 30 minutes to extinguish the fire.
"The safety of all our residents is a top priority to our department," said Fire Chief Kris Blume. "We extend our condolences to the family for this tragic loss. The men and women of Meridian Fire Department and surrounding agencies were challenged with the most difficult of circumstances and performed admirably and heroically to give the occupants their best chance at survival."
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
