RIDDLE, Idaho — The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), said the Mary Fire burning 5 miles northeast of Riddle is at 6000 acres. However, the control date is estimated to be on July 15 by 8 p.m. Officials are asking people to avoid Highway 51.
"The Boise District BLM responded to the Mary Fire on 07/13/2024. Remaining on scene are 2 overhead, 6 engines, 2 Forest Service engines, 2 Idaho Department of Lands engines, 1 Duck Valley engine, 2 dozers, 1 water tender, and 1 air attack. The fire is located approximately 5 miles northeast of Riddle, Idaho. Crews worked through the night, knocking down active fire spread and reinforcing containment lines. Highway 51 is open. However, due to poor visibility, as well as firefighter and public safety, we do advise taking caution in the area," stated a post on social media.
The fire is believed to be caused by lightning.
