Police arrest Boise man following shots fired near gym in Meridian

34-year-old Jacob Williams of Boise was arrested on charges in connection to shots fired near the intersection of Eagle and Ustick Road.

BOISE, Idaho — The Meridian Police Department (MPD) arrested a suspect involved in a shooting in Meridian early Thursday morning.

34-year-old Jacob Williams of Boise was arrested on felony charges at a Boise home on North Brookfield Place. Police said he was taken to the Ada County Jail without further incident.

Around 7 a.m., there were reports of a suspicious person outside of Mecca Gym in Meridian. After a few gym patrons exited the building, the suspect started arguing with the patrons, with a fight ensuing, police said.

Chief of Meridian Police Department Tracy Basterrechea told KTVB that the victims recount an individual firing some rounds at them, and then "jumped into a white Dodge 1500 4-door pickup and fled north through the parking lot."

There were no reported injuries, and the area was blocked off for some time to allow police to investigate.

On Friday, Sept. 20, the Garden City Police announced the arrest of Williams after he was charged with burglary for allegedly breaking into a Garden City business on Glenwood Street.

Police said at 6:46 a.m., officers arrived at the home, and they found a glass door had been shattered, and the suspect was gone. When officers checked the surveillance video, they saw Williams enter the building with a gun and baton in hand.

Garden City Police said the incident in Meridian at the Mecca Gym happened later.

Williams Charges are listed below:

Meridian Charges: One count of malicious injury to property; Three counts of aggravated assault

Garden City Charges: Burglary
