MIDDLETON, Idaho — On Monday, around 7:30 p.m., Middleton Police officers received a call regarding a high-speed pursuit from Ada County. The pursuit ended in the driver's arrest.
An update from Idaho State Police (ISP) provided more information regarding the incident on Monday.
An ISP trooper attempted a traffic stop on a speeding car going westbound on Interstate 84 in Ada County. The car, a 2011 Honda Pilot, did not stop for troopers, resulting in a pursuit. ISP states that the Honda was being driven recklessly, reaching speeds of roughly 115 mph.
Police determined that two people were in the car. As the vehicle approached mile marker 26 on Interstate 84, it slowed to almost a stop so a male passenger could exit the vehicle. The passenger was uninjured, said police, and surrendered to a trooper without incident.
The car then proceeded to continue west on I-84 towards exit 25, police said, when Middleton Police successfully deployed a stop stick device, causing the suspect's tires to deflate slowly.
The pursuit ended shortly after the car ran over the stop sticks.
Troopers determined that the driver, a 39-year-old woman from Salmon, had a warrant for her arrest and possessed a controlled substance. The passenger, a 37-year-old man from Kuna, was also arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana. Both were transported to Canyon County Jail, said ISP.
No one was injured during this incident.
ISP extends thanks to the Middleton Police Department for their assistance in this incident.
