BOISE, Idaho — The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) will all be working alongside Ada County Highway District (ACHD) and the Boise Valley Railroad on a project on Milwaukee Road in Boise.
Crews will close the road from Westpark Street to Franklin Road starting April 26 through April 29.
In a news release, ITD said the full closure is necessary in order to replace the railroad in that area.
The goal of the project is to get the road and railroad on the same level, creating a smoother driving experience. According to the news release, the Milwaukee crossing was installed in 2006, and the last major crossing surfacing took place more than 10 years ago.
"There are two trains that use these tracks every day, and they are vital for Idaho's commerce. In order to replace the crossing quickly, a full closure is needed," said Blaine Schwendiman, the Rail-Highway Crossing Manager for ITD.
Businesses will still be accessible during this closure.
