Body of missing Twin Falls man found in canal, authorities say

A Twin Falls County Sheriff's Office spokesperson told KTVB that the body of Marvin Orellana-Orozco was found five miles from the crash site on Wednesday.

BOISE, Idaho — The body of a missing man in Twin Falls was found Wednesday afternoon.

A spokesperson with the Twin Falls County Sheriff's Office told KTVB that the body of missing 22-year-old Marvin Orellana-Orozco was found five to six miles downstream of the accident, where his truck was recovered.

On Wednesday morning, Orellana-Orozco's truck was recovered from the Low Line Canal at Eastland Drive South. A news release said the location of the crashed truck was found by members of the Special Investigation Unit (SIU), Twin Falls Police and deputies with the Twin Falls County Sheriff's Office.

The SIU team had initially started to look for the truck after a missing persons report was filed for the driver. Orellana-Orozco was last seen in Twin Falls late on Friday, Sept. 20.

Marvin's sister Sonia Orozco told KTVB she last heard from him on Friday.

"This was about 5 p.m., he called me and said he was going out with a couple of friends to have dinner. Unfortunately, we woke up, we didn't see his truck parked outside," Sonia said.

She said her family started searching for him after filing the report. After she posted the situation on Facebook, she said hundreds of community members showed up to help find him.

"A lot of people have come by, donated water, food, porta potties, just anything that they could help us with," Sonia said. "We really appreciate that."

Authorities said the crash site was found by debris along the road and damage to the guard rail. Orellana-Orozco's white, Chevrolet utility truck was found submerged in the canal, but he was not found in the car.

The sheriff's office said they were using a helicopter, drone and cadaver dogs to help with search efforts.

As the search continued for Orellana-Orozco, Sonia and her family were grateful for all the community support.

"It feels really good to know that my everybody came together and is helping us find my brother, because it's been really hard for us," Sonia said.

The family created a GoFundMe to cover Marvin's funeral costs.
