Mission Aviation Fellowship breaks ground on family center

The 8,000 square-foot building will act as a gathering place for staff and volunteers from around the world.

NAMPA, Idaho — A Nampa nonprofit known for their quick responses to worldwide disasters will soon have a brand new central gathering place for staff and volunteers from around the world.

Mission Aviation Fellowship has been featured numerous times on KTVB and KTVB.COM.

They respond to natural disasters like earthquakes and hurricanes in 37 countries.

MAF broke ground Tuesday on a $1.7 million family center near the Nampa Airport.

The 8,000 square-foot facility will include a kitchen and dining area, an activity room and an outdoor patio.

"People come here and they often times spend two to three months out of the year doing training, and this is a location that will just allow them to have a comfortable place to spend time with their kids and their friends, and to just enjoy the community that's around them," said MAF President & CEO David Holsten.

The building is expected to be completed next spring.
