COEURD'ALENE -- A north Idaho mother accused of abusing her twin toddlers appeared in court Monday.
Coeur d Alene Police called this one of the worst cases of child abuse they have ever seen. Elizabeth Crossley, 27,pleaded guilty to the child abuse charges. She is admitting to severely abusing her twin girls.
Police arrested Elizabeth Crossley and her mother Ruth Cassidy after police discovered Crossley s girls unclothed with no diapers and bruises all over their bodies. The twins were also covered in their own feces and the investigating officer said the smell coming from the apartment was so bad it was difficult to enter.
On Monday, Crossley s lawyer asked the judge to allow her to be released until her sentencing.
The girls were found at Captain Apartment in early December after a neighbor called police. Ruth Cassidy was also latercharged with injury to a child. She enteredan Alford plea last week and is scheduled to be sentenced in April.
Crossley faces 10 yearsin prison and up to $50,000 in fines when she is sentenced.
