BAKER CITY, Ore — A motorcycle crash on Highway 86 near milepost 30 in Baker County left one person dead and another person in the hospital, according to Oregon State Police (OSP)

Police said the crash occurred at roughly 10 a.m. on Friday, June 14. A preliminary investigation showed that an eastbound Harley Davidson motorcycle, with a driver and a passenger, failed to make a left-hand turn and left the roadway, OSP said.

The motorcycle traveled approximately 100 feet along the shoulder of the highway, going 30 feet down an embankment. Oregon State Police said the crash ejected both riders.

The motorcycle landed on top of the driver, who was identified as 66-year-old Scott Douglas Moss of Boise. According to police, Moss was taken to an area hospital by air ambulance due to his injuries.

OSP said the passenger of the Harley Davidson, 68-year-old Joan Gayle Moss of Boise, died at the scene of the crash.

Oregon State Police, who was assisted by the Baker County Sheriff's Office and the Oregon Department of Transportation, said Highway 86 was not impacted during the on-scene investigation.
