BOISE, Idaho — After the Nov. 7 elections, many Idaho races ended with a winner. However, the Mountain Home Mayoral election is going into a runoff election due to no clear winner, according to the Mountain Home City Hall.

Unofficial results from the Elmore County Elections Department show that no mayoral candidate received over 50% of the vote, said in a news release. By Mountain Home's city code, a candidate must meet that threshold to hold office.

The news release said the runoff election will conducted by the Elmore County elections department and will take place within the next 30 days before Dec. 7. Mountain Home City Hall still has not confirmed the start date of the runoff election.

"The elections department is working diligently to get ballots ordered and overnighted to our community in hopes for a speedy election process," city hall said in a news release.

Officials provided how ballots can be received.

  • Absentee ballots will be accepted by both mail and in-person at the courthouse.
  • Mail-in ballots will need to be requested by the voter and there will be a minimum two-week window to collect those.
  • Absentee in-person voting will open at the courthouse as soon as the ballots are received.
