MOUNTAIN HOME, Idaho — Chief Jonathan Thompson with the Mountain Home Police Department honored one of his own by presenting Sergeant Jake Dudley with the distinguished Lifesaving Award and medal.
On Wednesday, Dec. 20, Thompson awarded Dudley with the honor, marking Dudley's third time receiving the award for his efforts.
The first time Dudley received the award was for performing CPR successfully and saving two other individuals.
This year, he received the award for a Nov. 24 rescue. Dudley and Corporal Kyle Rawlins were dispatched to an argument. Dudley went to the backyard, where he found an individual sitting on the patio.
After the person did not respond to Dudley calling for him, Dudley got closer and noticed the person had a belt tightly wrapped around their neck, police said. The belt around the neck was attached to a second belt, and that was attached to a beam.
Police continued that Dudley then released tension from the belts and held the person upright while calling for assistance.
"Sgt. Dudley's calm demeanor and actions throughout the event were instrumental in saving the life of this individual, who was later transported to the hospital to receive the necessary care and medical treatment," Mountain Home Police said on Facebook.
