MERIDIAN, Idaho — A series of fires broke out in Meridian on Monday, resulting in multiple fire departments responding. Due to quick crew responses, the fires were all managed efficiently.
According to Meridian Fire Department, there were three fires that broke out within an hour of each other.
The first fire was reported at 3:07 p.m. It was a residential structure fire on the 2000 block of N. Glennfield Way. There were visible flames by the time first responders got there, Meridian Fire said.
Meridian Fire brought six engines out and two ladder trucks, and had the fire out by 3:30 p.m. Monday. Both the Eagle Fire Department and Ada County Paramedics assisted with this incident. One firefighter was taken to the local hospital for heat-related injury and was later released.
At roughly 3:51 p.m. Monday, Meridian Fire responded to a brush fire near the intersection of Locust Grove Road and E. Victory Road. Kuna and Meridian Fire were able to control this fire by roughly 4 p.m. with only three acres burned. No one was injured, and a total of four emergency response vehicles were needed, including brush trucks.
Just a few minutes later, at 3:55 p.m. Monday, there was another structure fire reported at a mill off the 200 block of Taylor Avenue. For this fire, a total of 13 emergency vehicles responded, calling help from Meridian Fire, Meridian Police, Boise Fire, Eagle Fire and Ada County Paramedics. Again, there were no injuries and it was extinguished at 5:30 p.m.
"We depleted every resource in Meridian and relied on neighboring jurisdictions to help us keep Meridian safe. I extend my gratitude to our surrounding agencies for their time and energy in responding to the needs of our community," Meridian Fire Chief Blume said.
The cause of all three fires is still under investigation.
Meridian Fire notes that it is very hot and very dry outside currently. With severe weather conditions like we're experiencing, vegetation will dry out, making fires easier to start and harder to fight. Meridian Fire reminds all Treasure Valley residents to be extra cautious and call 911 if you see a fire starting.
If you see fire crews working a scene, please allow them time and space to do their job and avoid the area as best as possible, said Meridian Fire.
