Nampa Police warn of donation scams

The department says the scammers are preying on small, local businesses under the guise of the Boys and Girls Club.

NAMPA, Idaho — According to the Nampa Police Department (NPD), a scam was brought to their attention by a local business owner.

The NPD said the business was asked to make a flyer for the Boys and Girls Club, however, they thought something was fishy and reported it.

"The business did not make the flyers, the men left, and the business alerted us with their suspicion. We did some research, contacted the national business that was listed on the flyer (we covered their logo because it was added fraudulently and we don’t want them getting any bad press), and they confirmed they are not part of this fundraiser. The Canyon County Boys and Girls Club was also contacted and they confirmed they are not the beneficiary of this ‘fundraiser,'" stated the NPD.
