NAMPA, Idaho — The Nampa Public Library will be closed On April 1 and 2 for staff to reorganize the adult nonfiction collection. During the closure the Holds Pickup Window will remain open.

"The Nampa Public Library is constantly striving to improve patrons' library experience. Moving away from the traditional Dewey Decimal System to a subject-based organization, also called the bookstore model, allows patrons to browse by genre or topic, mirroring how people naturally explore information. The new layout groups similar items together under clear sections like "Parenting," "History," or "Cooking," instead of being scattered throughout the Dewey Decimal System,' a news release stated.

The reorganization will have new signage, labels and maps that show the new layout.

"We recognize that adapting to this new layout might take some getting used to, particularly for those who appreciate and are familiar with the Dewey Decimal System," said Claire Connley, Director of the Nampa Public Library. "However, we believe this adjustment will ultimately make finding the items and resources you need easier and more enjoyable."

People can get more information on the changes at the library's website.
