BOISE -- Capitol Boulevard has a new bike lane.
The Ada County Highway District completed the project this week.
The lane runs from Front to Jefferson Street.
A double white line marks off a buffer area between cyclists and motorists.
About halfway between Grove and Main Street, the bike lane becomes a "sharrow" - a lane shared by cars and bikes.
Cyclists stay to the left inside of that lane, as cars and trucks making a right turn on Main Street merge from the through lane to the turn lane.
ACHD advises motorists and cyclists to use caution, be courteous and be alert as everyone becomes accustomed to that new traffic pattern.
