New playground opens at Nampa's Liberty Park

The new playground replaces outdated equipment in the park.

NAMPA, Idaho — For all of you parents in Nampa, we have some exciting news to share.

Two new playgrounds will be open for the summer for your children to enjoy.

Tuesday afternoon, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at Liberty Park.

The neighborhood park is approximately 18 acres in size and offers a basketball court, sand volleyball, soccer fields and a softball field.

The Nampa Parks and Recreation Department says new features on the modern play structures will give kids the opportunity to stay active throughout their play time. The new playground replaces an outdated one.

"My concern is that we're a healthy community and part of being a healthy community is getting outside and enjoying a beautiful day like we have today. Coming out here with family and friends, making new friends as well,” said Nampa City Council member Sandi Levi.

A second playground in Kings Road Park will open on July 9th.

Both playgrounds were funded through the Community Development Block Grant.
