Payette firefighters save cat with extraordinary story

A cat who had befriended a soldier during his time in Iraq was saved from a burning building by Payette Fire.

BOISE, Idaho — The Payette Fire Department saved a cat from a fire that started its life overseas in Iraq. 

Payette Fire said on social media that they were in the middle of responding to a fire on November 19, when one of the residents came up to firefighters to alert them that his cat was still inside. Firefighters entered the house and during the mop-up, they found the cat with only minor injuries to its paws.

The man told the firefighters the cat actually had an interesting life. The man said the cat started its life overseas in Iraq where the man met the cat during his time as a soldier. He said the cat adopted the soldiers and ended up making his way back to the United States to become the man's service animal to live in Payette.
