TWIN FALLS - A female BASE jumper was rescued Tuesday evening after her chute became entangled in the Perrine Bridge, the Twin Fall County Sheriff's Office said.

The sheriff's office said a wind gust caught the chute and blew it into the bottom trestle of the bridge. The report was received at around 5:30 p.m.

Crews from the Twin Falls Fire Department, Magic Valley Paramedics Special Operations Reach and Treat Team (SORT) and Twin Falls County Search and Rescue responded and found the jumper hanging 10 to 15 feet below the trestle.

A SORT member was lowered over the rail to the jumper, then he secured her to his rescue lines and then cut her out of her chute, the sheriff's office said.

Search and Rescue members were on the catwalk under the bridge and pulled the jumper and rescuer to the catwalk at about 6:30 p.m.

The jumper, Carla Jean Segil, 26, of Big Bear, Calif., was not injured. She declined to comment Wednesday.

Both lanes of northbound traffic were closed down during the rescue. Northbound traffic was diverted to one of the southbound lanes.

All lanes were later reopened.
