The Rebel Legion and the Empire have set aside their differences in an attempt to raise awareness about breast cancer.
Two local "Star Wars" enthusiast groups that construct screen-accurate costumes are using their massive investment in their Lucasfilm-approved costumes and their love of the films to give back to the community.
They've supported charities like Idaho Make-A-Wish and Toys for Tots in the past with their usual Star Wars characters, but now they've built a brand new shade of stormtrooper.
Jon Clark, who is Boise's Darth Vader, and Kelly Dally stopped by the KTVB studios Monday morning to talk about the Pacific Northwest's first ever pink stormtrooper.
Kelly's usual alliance is with the Jedis, but she's crossing over to the dark side in hopes of raising awareness about breast cancer.
"They had not done a run of pink armor before, and I knew the minute I saw it that it would be a fantastic way to honor friends that I had lost to breast cancer," said Dally.
"Not only is she doing this for breast cancer and it's important to her, but she knows it's important to a lot of us. I lost my mom here, about two years ago to breast cancer," said Clark.
Kelly says it took her and a partner seven months to completely build the pink stormtrooper costume.
The pink stormtrooper's first public appearance is this Thursday at the kickoff for the Treasure Valley Making Strides Walk. The event will be held at the Boise Centre from 6 until 9 p.m.
