BOISE A 74-year-old Boise woman is accused of tossing an open jar of mayonnaise into a book drop of a west Ada County library.
Joy L. Cassidy is now charged withmalicious injury to property, a misdemeanor crime.
Boise Police say they have been investigating several reports of vandalism at the library since May 2009.
Employees told officers the suspect has been pouring liquids,such ascorn syrup and ketchup, into an outside drop box, destroying books and other materials inside the box.
There have been more than 10 reported incidents of vandalism, with damages in excess of $1,000.
Around 8 a.m. Sunday, a patrol officer observed a vehicle matching the description provided by witnesses pull into the drive-thru at the library onWest Victory Road.
The car was stopped andupon further investigation police saythat Cassidy dropped a jar of mayonnaise in the drop box.A loaded handgun was also found under the driver's seat, resulting in the carrying a concealed weapon charge.
Cassidy was also issued a citation for driving on an expired driver's license.
She was booked into the Ada County Jailand has since been released.
