BOISE -- A Boise man was arrested Monday night after police say he shot a gun into the air during a fight at an apartment complex off of State Street.
The incident happened at about 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Edgewater Apartments.
The suspected shooter, identified by police as 26-year-old Jason Lettelleir, is facing a felony charge of aggravated assault.
Police say Lettelleir was inside one of the apartments when he spotted a group of people in the parking lot who he believed were acting suspiciously. He went outside and approached the people, police say, and several members of that group began fighting with each other.
At that point, according to investigators, Lettelleir pulled out a gun and pointed it at at least one person before firing into the air.
Police say Lettelleir did not know any of the people he confronted.
Officers had already been dispatched to the apartment complex on a suspicious vehicle call, and had just arrived when Lettelleir shot into the air. He and the other people in the parking lot were immediately detained, and Lettelleir was ultimately arrested.
No one was injured in the shooting, police say.
The incident marks the second such shooting in Boise in a matter of days. Andrew Peterman, 33, was arrested Sunday night in a separate case after police say he fired a gun on Jullion Way in West Boise, sparking an hours-long manhunt. Peterman, who did not hit anyone with the shots, was also charged with aggravated assault.
Lettelleir was booked into the Ada County Jail, and is due to appear in court Tuesday afternoon. If convicted of aggravated assault, he could face up to five years in prison.
