NAMPA -- Nampa Police say they are checking into an altercation between a teacher and a student at a local high school.
The incident happened on Monday at Nampa High. Police say officers were called to the school after a "disturbance" involving the teacher and student.
Police have released few details about the confrontation, and say they are still working to figure out exactly what happened. Investigators have received conflicting accounts from witnesses, and no video of the incident was captured.
Nampa School District spokeswoman Kathleen Tuck said the teacher involved has been removed from the classroom, but is still employed by the school. The district will wait for the investigation to be finished before deciding on any disciplinary actions, she said.
"It's still an ongoing situation," Tuck said. "We're taking measures to make sure its a safe environment, and we're trying to figure out what happened."
Like police, Tuck said details about what happened are murky.
"We have a whole classroom full of kids that have differing stories," she said.
No charges have been filed in the case. The investigation is ongoing.
