Update: NPD determines 'suspicious package' in St. Luke's Nampa parking lot not an explosive device

The Nampa Police Department announced at 2:40 p.m. that the suspicious package they began investigating earlier on Thursday was not an explosive device.

NAMPA, Idaho — The Nampa Police Department (NPD) determined the "suspicious package" was found in a St. Luke's parking lot near Midland Boulevard in Nampa, is not an explosive device. Investigators will be following up on the incident.

NPD first announced at 1:40 p.m. that their officers and bomb squad unit were on the scene for a suspicious package. The parking lot and the traffic on Midland Boulevard had been restricted. 

In a 2 p.m. update, NPD said St. Luke's was unaffected, and the Emergency Department and patient appointments continued.

Police said in the latest update, "traffic and business in the surrounding area is back to normal."
