MOUNTAIN HOME, Idaho — A Mountain Home police officer was able to calm a 10-year-old student down at East Elementary School after they brandished a box-cutter at the principal on Wednesday, Mar. 13 around 8:15 a.m. According to Mountain Home Police Chief Jonathan Thompson, no one was injured but the school did go into "modified lockdown" while they dealt with the situation.
Chief Thompson said the student was suspended and released to their mother. Any formal charges will be referred to a juvenile screening committee.
Thompson said students coming to school were brought by staff into the school from an alternate entrance while a sergeant, who had prior experience with the student, calmed the student and got them to put down the box-cutter.
